Kaolin
Kaolinite is a clay mineral, part of the group of industrial minerals with the chemical composition Al₂Si₂O₅ (OH)₄. It is a layered silicate mineral, with one tetrahedral sheet of silica linked through oxygen atoms to one octahedral sheet of alumina octahedra. White, sometimes red, blue or brown tints from impurities
Kaolin is one of the most common minerals. Kaolin powder is used in ceramics, medicine, coated paper, as a food additive, in toothpaste, as a light diffusing material in white incandescent light bulbs, and in cosmetics. It is generally the main component in porcelain. Kaolin is one of the most common minerals. WHAT IS KAOLIN?
Kaolin is essentially a white, clay mineral used quite often in the creation of porcelain and certain types of ceramics. Egyptian Kaolin especially, is considered in its raw form to be quite hard and massive. Known also as China clay and Chamotte, this particular product is abundantly found in Egypt’s Sinai ad Aswan regions, which is where we predominantly export from.
RAW AND PROCESSED KAOLIN
Both products are utilized in the ceramics and porcelain industries. Our raw kaolin boasts an alumina content of 36%; while after calcination this increases to right around 40%.
SIZE GRADING
Working with you to meet all of your refractory needs, we offer this anhydrous aluminum silicate in the following grades: 0-40mm, 0-1mm, 0-3mm, 3-6mm, 0-10mm.
